Fashion Show: Penn State Altoona Taste of Africa 2011 Safari Couture Fashion Show

Happy #TBT #ThrowBackThursday Everyone!
Back in 2011,
during my sophomore year in college at Penn State Altoona,
I produced my first fashion show ever!
Flash forward 4 years later and now I have my own fashion week,
All Things Ankara Fashion Week, D.C.

Isn’t that crazy?!?! It is truly amazing how God works!
I was the Vice President/Event Planner of the African Student Association of Penn State Altoona
from 2010-2011
The organization throws an annual show called
Taste of Africa and the theme for the show that year was Safari Couture
The President and My Friend
Onyeka Ariwaodo, asked me if I could run the fashion show
Of course I said yes,
I knew it was task I could handle well! =)
Sticking with the theme I decided to do a Safari Scene,
a Couture Scene and an Opening Scene “Barbie Scene”
which paid homage to  “Nicki Minaj”

The clothes in the Couture Scene where made by
A duo design team from my area,
Cote Minou
Unfortunately, they are no longer together! =(
The are still one of my favorite Ankara Print Inspired Designers
and I thank them for opening up doors for designers in the
D.M.V. Area, like myself.
All in All ,
The fashion show was a true success!
